Natural Light Portraits with Fujifilm GFX 100 II & GF 80mm f1.7
Good evening!
It’s been a minute huh…although I’ve been consistently rubbish at keeping this blog up to date over the years, I’ve never left it this long to post!
Truth be told, I kinda lost the love for photography over the last couple of years, but I’ve felt that spark come back to me recently and what better way to get cracking again than to upload some shots from a recent photoshoot in Bristol.
I’d been itching to get back into shooting portraits and so in the week I arranged to meet a model called Hannah in Bristol to shoot some natural light images.
I didn’t have a specific theme or plan in mind, rather just grab a camera and lens and walk around the city centre stopping at locations that caught my eye.
My weapon of choice for this shoot was the incredible Fujifilm GFX 100 II paired with the GF 80mm. Given it was a very sunny day with not a cloud in the sky, I opted to shoot with a Tide Optics mist filter attached to the lens to help bloom the highlights in the background and reduce the harshness of the shots.
Hannah and I spent around 90 minutes shooting in Bristol and I came away from the shoot with the incredibly difficult task of choosing my favourite images to edit. A perfect combination of a talented model, combined with the fantastic quality of the GFX system meant some tough decisions when culling but I’m super happy with the final results and glad to be back out there with camera in hand!
Big thanks to Hannah, go check her out at @hannahmaeig and thank you to Clifton Cameras for loaning me the gear!
