Neon Portraits with Sony A7III (Brandon Woelfel Inspired)
Hey guys,
A couple of months ago, I visited Gamecube, a video arcade here in Bristol to shoot a set of neon portraits inspired by American photographer Brandon Woelfel.
I’ve been a fan of Brandon’s work for a while, like me, he’s big into Neo Noir style imagery, neon lights, vivid colours and that 80’s kind of vibe.
For this shoot I located a video arcade that had recently opened in Bristol and armed with my trusty Sony A7III paired with the Sigma 50mm f1.4 ART lens and along with my amazing model for the day Ann (@annfrostmodelling) we spent a couple of hours creating a cool set of neon portraits.
Here are some of my favourite images from the shoot.
My friend and assistant Craig (@Craig_iwanczuk) also helped film a behind the scenes video that shows you a bit of the process and how I went about creating the final images. You can watch the video below.
In future I’ll write and film a “how to” guide for shooting neon portraits as it can be quite tricky if you don’t know what you’re doing!
Cheers,
Craig
